PBS Holds May They Be One Bible Run 2
Thousands of Bible believers joined the Philippine Bible Society’s biggest event called the May They Be One (MTBO) Bible Run today, March 9, 2013, Saturday, at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila.
This year’s run was more enjoyable as it was highlighted by colorful themes and floats inspired by biblical stories. The Bible Run is designed to help participants learn more about and engage with God’s Word through the scripture verses, biblical information and trivia that will punctuate the race tracks.
Participants got to interact with the Bible characters and have their pictures taken in a photo booths situated along the race tracks. It was even more meaningful as they got to help PBS to raise funds for the printing of the Bible to be given to under-privileged Filipinos.
Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo, PBS Chairman and President, and Manila City Mayor Alfredo S. Lim led the 2nd staging of MTBO Bible Run through the gun start ceremony of the event.
Radio Jock and Youth Pastor Jordan Escusa and Beauty Queen and Actress Miriam Quiambao provided the energy and grace as the host of the event.
Bishop Jonel Milan led the opening prayer followed by the Bible reading by a member of the Resources from the Blind.
Meanwhile, Singer and Songwriter Acel Van Ommen also launched her new anthemic song entitled “Liliwanag” which gives the event an added threat. This song encourages people to act now and join the cause of the organization.
The Bible Run 2 was even bigger because of the inclusion of 10k category aside from the original 3K and 5k category. Students may claim the NSTP credit certificates through PBS official website after joining the advocacy run.
Proactive Philippines provides the technical expertise and direction as they manage the race event.
PBS General Secretary Nora G. Lucero says, “We are glad that more churches, LGUs, schools and organizations joined the 2nd staging of the Bible Run. This was indeed a happy bonding for families and friends but was also informative and helped draw them near to the Word of God.”
“We hope that through this event more people will get to appreciate the Bible and realize its importance. We believe that if all of us are united, we can make positive changes by transforming the nation through God’s Word”, Lucero added.
This event was made possible through the partnership of numerous groups among them the Manila City Government, Pasay City Government, National Parks and Development Commission, CBCP – Episcopal Commission for Biblical Apostolate, National Council of Churches in the Philippines, National Book Development Board, Proactive Philippines, Medialux Advertising, Inc., Generics Pharmacy, Fontera – Anlene, Soleus Philippines, Bible House, Toby’s Sports, Runnr Specialty Store, Megaworks Printing Corporation and Philippine Christian Bookstore.
